The Kitimat – Terrace Amateur Radio Club has dated back to the 60’s and continues to provide support to the community.

What is Amateur Radio?

Amateur radio, or “ham radio,” is a hobby that allows licensed individuals to operate radio equipment to communicate with others worldwide. Enthusiasts use various modes such as voice, digital, and Morse code. The community includes beginners and experienced operators, fostering technical skills and knowledge of radio technology. Amateur radio also engages in public service, supporting emergency communication efforts and promoting goodwill among people from different cultures.

How do I get involved?
What are field days?
Field Days are sanctioned by the ARRL, and any club or person in North America may join. For field day we take our radios and antennas and set them up in a location, such as a park. The main goal of field day is to make as many contacts as possible with other stations doing the same. This is to simulate a continent wide emergency, where radio communication is needed. It’s also a fun event that we all get together at and socialize.
